【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoverstherequirementstodeterminethetime-to-failureofthermoplasticresinsforpipingapplicationsbyuniaxialloadingofagroovedtensiletestspecimen.Thisgroovedtensilespecimenachievesamulti-axialstresscondition,whichmimicsthestressconditionfoundinpressurizedsolid-wallplasticpipe.Theratioofthestressintheaxialdirectiontothetransversedirectionapproximatesthatforapressurizedsolid-wallpipespecimen.ItisintendedthatthedatageneratedonthesespecimensbeanalyzedaccordingtothemethodologysetforthinTestMethodD2837togeneratealong-termstrengthdesignvalueforthematerial.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
