【摘要】:Relativedensity(specificgravity)isthecharacteristicgenerallyusedforcalculationofthevolumeoccupiedbytheaggregateinvariousmixturescontainingaggregate,includingPortlandcementconcrete,bituminousconcrete,andothermixturesthatareproportionedoranalyzedonanabsolutevolumebasis.Relativedensity(specificgravity)isalsousedinthecomputationofvoidsinaggregateinTestMethodC29/C29M.Relativedensity(specificgravity)saturatedsurfacedry(SSD)isusediftheaggregateisatSSD,thatis,ifitsabsorptionhasbeensatisfied.Conversely,therelativedensity(specificgravity)oven-dry(OD)isusedforcomputationswhentheaggregateisdryorassumedtobedry.Apparentdensityandapparentrelativedensity(apparentspecificgravity)pertaintothesolidmaterialmakinguptheconstituentparticlesnotincludingtheporespacewithintheparticleswhichisaccessibletowater.Absorptionvaluesareusedtocalculatethechangeinthemassofanaggregateduetowaterabsorbedintheporespaceswithintheconstituentparticles,whenitisdeemedthattheaggregatehasbeenincontactwithwaterlongenoughtosatisfytheabsorptionpotential.Thelaboratorystandardforabsorptionisthatobtainedaftersubmergingdryaggregateforaprescribedperiodoftime.Note18212;Thereareothertestmethodsthathavebeenusedandcontinuetobeusedtodeterminetheseaggregateproperties:C127andC128.Thistestmethodmayresultinvaluesforthesepropertiesthatareclosetoordivergentfromvaluesfromothertestmethods.Note28212;Thequalityoftheresultsproducedbythisstandardaredependantuponthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingtheprocedureandthecapability,calibration,andthemaintenanceoftheequipmentused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3666aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3666alonedoesnotcompletelyassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors:followingthesuggestionsofPracticeD3666orsimilaracceptableguidelineprovidesameansofevaluatingandcontrollingsomeofthosefactors.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofrelativedensityandabsorptionoffineaggregatesbyMethodAandcoarseandblendedaggregatesbyMethodB.1.2ThevaluesarestatedinSIunitsandareregardedasthestandardunits.1.3Amulti-laboratoryprecisionandbiasstatementforcoarseandcombinedaggregatetestsinthisstandardhasnotbeendevelopedatthistime.Therefore,thisstandardshouldnotbeusedforacceptanceorrejectionofcoarseandcombinedaggregatematerialsforpurchasingpurposes.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
